Yumi Lash Lift

What is a lash lift? What is Yumi?

A lash lift is similar to a perm…but a newer, better version with a flat silicon mould instead of a round rod and improved ingredients creating a beautiful eye opening lift from the roots of the lash instead of an over-curled look of perms from the past.

The brand Yumi (pronounced Yoomi) offers a groundbreaking solution allowing a superior way of enhancing natural lashes; it’s the answer to the best lashes of your life! In a relaxing 1 hour service your lashes will go through a 4 step process to open up your eye area, make lashes appear longer and stronger without adding any extension or false lashes and will last you between 8-12 weeks.

Can anyone have a lash lift?

You bet! Long and short lashes benefit from a Yumi lift.

The only thing that doesn't get on well with a lift is lash extensions (so ensure ALL are removed before coming in for your appointment) as each lash is individually positioned and separated on a silicon rod, having extensions present will inhibit this process as well as create a barrier for the subsequent solutions…it will also be quite uncomfortable tugging around glued extensions (on natural lashes this won’t happen) to achieve the optimal positioning of the lash and you simply won’t get the best result possible.

Can I have a lift whilst pregnant?

YES!!! This will be a life changer with a newborn. None of the solutions actually touch your skin as a silicon rod is placed on your lash line as a mould for the lift…the solutions are safe for pregnancy but they also never touch your skin.

Do I have to do anything before my lash lift?

It’s best to arrive at your appointment without mascara on but if you’ve come straight from work (or just never leave the house without mascara) it can be removed in salon for you- please no waterproof mascara and just keep it to one thin coat.

What’s my aftercare going to be like?

Minimal! The best news, a lash lift is the lazy or time poor girls best friend. The biggest aftercare rule is DO NOT WET YOUR LASHES FOR 24 HRS after your treatment, can’t stress that enough so it’s in capitals…water on lashes will equal a lift that droops straight away or you won’t get the longest time possible with long lifted lashes. Apart from that ensure you’re using a good mascara so you aren’t drying out your lashes excessively, castor oil each evening is a great daily treatment to maintain the hydration, condition and health of your lash and the occasional brush with a clean mascara wand will help them all sit up loud and proud (though I find this is needed when the lift is maybe a month in and starting to softer, certainly not an everyday thing like extensions).

What are the pads under my eyes for?

They’re to hold your lower lashes out of the way to ensure only your top lashes are lifted. You can upgrade to some hydrating collagen eye masks from Lonvitalite in salon- there is 24k Gold Collagen packed with active ingredients or Collagen Crystal for a more soothing hydration boost to select from for an additional fee.

What are the actual steps involved? And how long will it take?

  1. Pads go underneath your eyes to hold your lower lashes away

  2. Silicon rods go on

  3. Lashes are lifted onto the rod and individually separated and positioned ready for your lift

  4. First solution does the lifting (or breaks down the keratin bonds of the hair)

  5. Second solution sets the lift (or reforms the keratin bonds around the new shape/mould and neutralises the chemical process)

  6. Tint, the darker the better

  7. Everything comes off with a nourishing keratin solution that will stay on the lash for 24hrs or until your wash the eye area.

  8. Pads are removed from under eyes, eyes are cleaned of any residue or tint, lashes are brushed and separated all ready to go.

All up the treatment takes 1 hour (if adding brows expect 1hr 15 to 1hr 30).

Can lash lifts damage my lashes?

NO! If performed correctly by a trained therapist and with 8 weeks or more between each lift there will be no damage to your lashes. Some people can experience dry hair (it’s still a chemical process just like colouring your hair), having a look at your mascara ingredients (tubing mascaras like Poni Cosmetics White Knight Mascara sold in salon are the BEST) or adding a castor oil treatment for your lashes into your nighttime routine will do wonders for this. If you sleep with an eye mask it would be best to wean yourself out of this habit before getting lash lifts as squashing them every night with your mask will change the direction of your lashes and could diminish the effect of your lift.

How long can I keep lash lifting for?

FOREVER! As long as you’re following aftercare advice and you aren’t re-doing your lifts too soon (8 weeks minimum) you can keep lifting every 8-12 weeks….I’m on my third year of the lash lift life and I’m never looking back.

Hopefully that’s answered any questions you may have about Yumi Lash Lifts, comment any more questions below or message/email the salon directly and I’d be happy to have a private chat with you.
