Winter Skin Saviours

Your skin is dry, sensitive, feels like it's gonna crack with every movement. Nothing works to repair the damage, makeup won't sit well. WHAT DO YOU DO??

You reach for these guys....even on my driest most sensitive days I know these products will help and not irritate my skin. A few consistent days of use and I'll be back to my usual skin health, skin barrier is repaired and the moisture is replaced!

Embryolisse Hydra-Masque and Lait-Crème Concerntré

I chanced upon this masque the first time I was in a Parisian pharmacy and it's literal magic! The moisturiser is more commonly known and talked of; it's a great makeup base/general face moisturiser, can be a little heavy on oily skins but is great when your skin is sensitive and needs a little extra TLC. The masque though! Take the moisturiser and x 1000 and you're close, for those days when you need to put makeup on but your skin is cracking put this bad boy on (more often than not your skin will soak the whole thing in) before you put makeup, take off the excess if it hasn't all disappeared and bob's your uncle! Fresh, hydrated, ready for makeup! I'd rationed my first purchase as long as possible....perhaps not great for use by dates but it still worked amazingly and smelled just fine...I thought I wasn't going to find this beauty until I returned to Paris but hooray for Adore Beauty!! They stock quite a good range of Embryolisse products and luckily this masque is one of them so now I can use to my hearts content.

Homeoplasmine

I'm a bit of a broken record about this one, it's the best lip balm you'll ever use...the....best. It's actually a nipple balm for lactating mothers but works wonders on cracked lips as well. Yes its a petroleum base which isn't usually the greatest for your lips-great at making a barrier but not at hydrating on its own but this products contains homeopathic ingredients to heal cracked sore nipples. Lips, nipples whatever IT WORKS! Honourable mention goes to Mecca Lip De Luscious (not pictured) of course I love that one, but sometimes you need a little bit more.

Weleda Skin Food

This beautiful cream took me a while to get into, it's super super rich and really quite thick (on a cold morning sometimes it's almost too solid to spread all over your face), but once warmed up and applied this thing will bring your skin back from extinction. My skin gets sensitive and irritated easily, whenever I have a cold it's unavoidable that my nose and top lip will get red and flake everywhere-until Skin Food! I suppose it says on the tube for dry rough skin...its magical at reversing or preventing chapped, dry, sore skin. I use this at night as it's so oily and emollient- if used in the daytime you may look like a shiny disco ball come lunchtime unless your skin is super dry; if it's my day off sometimes I'll mix in some of the next product listed below to help spread the Skin Food easier and will just embrace the glow.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid

A lovely edition to help hydrate skin, I use this every day anyway as it's not too much but keep it up even if your skin is crying for help as some of these products I've listed are really lipid rich not necessarily for water retention in the skin. Cover all bases.

Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment Oil

This one I've been reaching for less since I fell in love with Skin Food but it's still a great addition as a layering product either sparingly during the day or at night before a nice creamy moisturiser. Helps aid hydration and nourish the skin. Enough said.

Hopefully you've picked up some amazing recommendations to prepare you for the chilly days ahead, although really living in Brisbane we're pretty lucky during Winter.

What products do you swear by when your skin is feeling a little sad?
